A Yoga class to help you set aside time to step back from the worries and stresses of daily life. Experience very gentle and calm yoga movements that help you reconnect and rest. A safe space which helps you relax and release tension in the body and helps you let go of patterns which cause stress.

What you will learn

Explore yoga movements that help undo tension, learn breathing techniques that promote calmness, learn to explore the inner-life of the body, learn strategies for reducing stress, explore relaxation techniques that help promote healthy sleep patterns. This course is for anyone, particularly if you need to set aside time for a genuinely restorative activity.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • Explore Yoga poses that promote rest
  • Release tension and stress in the body
  • Increase awareness of feelings and sensations in the body
  • Practice simple breathing techniques that promote calm

Class format and activities

Each class will include a time for movement, breathing and relaxation. The class is guided through verbal instructions and demonstrations by the teacher. At the end of each class there is guided relaxation. There will be opportunities for questions, feedback and discussion where appropriate.

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

None. However, anyone who thinks they may be suffering from serious/clinical anxiety or depression are strongly advised to see their GP first before joining the class and to advise the teacher of any treatments they are undergoing.

What you will need for your class

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. The college provides yoga mats; however, you can bring your own yoga mat if you would like, this is completely optional.
